Preparing for the Conference
This is a very important guide to making sure you are prepped and ready to go for CascadiaJS! Please review it completely and let us know if you have any questions.
π² Pack your Bags
There are a few required items that you MUST bring to the conference:
- A government issued photo ID
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (photo or app is OK)
- Proof of a negative PCR or over-the-counter Antigen test (photo is OK)
Here are some things that we strongly encourage you to consider bringing:
- Mask: we encourage folks to mask up when they are inside and not eating or drinking
- Snacks: we will be serving 3 hearty meals every day, but if you need to nosh regularly throughout the day, please bring snacks.
- Insulated water bottle: there will be water stations and it will be important to stay hydrated!
- Clothing: please check the weather and dress in layers. It will be air conditioned inside, hot outside during the day and much cooler as the sun sets.
- Pool gear: swimsuit, sunscreen, giant pool floatie, etc.
π² Check Your Login
First, please make sure you can log in to the Conference Dashboard. This is where you will RSVP for workshops and activities, sign-up for raffles and other things related to the conference.
All you need is the email address you used when you assigned your conference ticket, magic links via email will handle the rest.
π² Create Your Virtual Ticket
In the Dashboard you can add yourself to our Conference Directory and create your own customized Virtual Ticket.
π² Register for Activities
All in-person conference attendees will have the opportunity to RSVP for one of the Activity Track options on the afternoon of August 31. Make sure you Register for your activity of choice, because spaces are limited and will go fast!
π² Register for Workshops
All in-person conference attendees have access to our Workshop Track, where you can get hands-on coding experience. Make sure you RSVP for workshops you want to attend, because spaces are limited and will go fast!
π² Have a Lodging Plan
If you live outside of Bend, please make sure you've secured lodging. If you have booked at Sunriver Resort, a few things to remember:
- Have you confirmation numer handy to expedite check-in.
- The 17.5% resort fee is waived for our group, but double-check you're not charged that when you check-out.
π² Have a Travel Plan
Unless you live in Bend, you'll need to travel to Sunriver Resort. There are many ways to get to and from Cascadia, so please check-out our Travel Guide for information on trains, shuttle buses, car pools and more.
π² Plan Your Meals
We have published the menus for all of the meals being served on Aug 31 and Sept 1.
While the resort will do its best to accommodate everyone's needs, there are certain things they are not equipped for, such as preparing kosher or halal meals.
In the event that our catering plan does not work for you, please make sure you have a plan.
π² Bringing Guests
If you are bringing family or friends, please review our Significant Other (SO) Track, which includes information on how guests of attendees can plug-in to: meals, child care, activities, connecting with other SOs, discounts at Sunriver Resort and more!
π² Make Reservations
All attendees and guests of CascadiaJS recieve the following perks at Sunriver Resort:
- 10% Discount offered for resort-owned Golf at Meadows and Woodlands, Marina, Stables & Sage Springs Spa Services
If you or your guest(s) know you want to do something, consider buying tickets or making reservations soon before things book up!
π² Have a Pet Plan
CascadiaJS is a pet-friendly conference! Here are some important rules and guidelines to keep in mind:
- Sunriver Resort offers pet-friendly rooms.
- Pets CANNOT be left in Sunriver Resort guest rooms unattended.
- Pets will be welcome at all of our events that take place outside.
- Pets will be welcome in a specific section of the Talk Track room, but will not be allowed in the Expo Hall or at the indoor workshops or at the indoor portions of the evening events.
